The WordPress admin bar can be helpful — but sometimes, it gets in the way of frontend elements or design.
The Auto Hide Admin Bar feature in the Pro version lets you automatically hide the admin bar after a brief delay to keep your frontend clean.
This improves user experience, especially for logged-in users who don’t constantly need access to the toolbar.
How It Works #
Once enabled, the admin bar will:
- Appear normally at page load
- Automatically slide up (hide) after a few seconds
- Reappear when you hover over the top of the screen
This gives your users a cleaner frontend experience — without removing access.
Configuration Steps #
1. Go to Plugin Settings #
Navigate to:
Settings → Hide Admin Bar
Make sure you have Hide Admin Bar Pro installed and activated.
2. Find the “Auto Hide Admin Bar” Section #
- Enable the feature
- Set the delay (in seconds)
Default value: 1 second
This means the admin bar will hide one second after the page loads.
3. Save Changes #
Click Save Changes to activate the auto-hide behavior on your site.
Behavior Overview #
Action | Result |
---|---|
Page loads | Admin bar is visible |
After X seconds | Admin bar slides up |
Mouse hovers top area | Admin bar reappears |
Mouse leaves | Admin bar hides again after the same delay |
Use Cases #
- Cleaner UI for logged-in users (e.g., clients, students, customers)
- Admin bar blocking navigation or headers
- Minimalist frontend sites that still need admin access
Notes #
- This does not disable the admin bar — it only hides it visually
- Works on the frontend only
- Will not affect admin dashboard pages
